Web Evaluation

Web Evaluation

Web Evaluation is a critical skill.  We need to evaluate the web pages that we are using for research purposes for several reasons.  Think of the Internet as the wild, wild, west!  There is no one in charge and the sheriff doesn't have control of the content being posted.

When we evaluate web sites we are reviewing to see that the author of the page is trustworthy, the information is timely and current, and that it is credible information that is not skewed toward one viewpoint.

Essentially, the basic reasons are

  • Authorship

  • Currency

  • Objectivity

Let's take a look at these websites-- remember to use your checklist to evaluate these pages and determine whether they are real or fake.
